Gully pot monitoring
In the United Kingdom, any drain that is shared between more business or household is classified as a public sewer. As such it is the responsibility of the local water company to clear any blockage that occurs. Since there are literally hundreds of thousands of sewers that fall under this category this becomes a mammoth and almost impossible task.
The good news is that only a minority of locations actually are subject to regular blockage, hence resources can be focuses to look at this specific location.
Working together with water companies and organisations such as the WRc Plc we have developed a range of sensors and transmitters that can be used to detect both the blockage of a drain and or the mechanical failure of a gully pot. The latter is defined as a fracture of the U-bend "trap" part of the pot. The function of which is to provide a seal against sewer gas.
Our sensors are by nature simple, giving three sates. High Alarm, Normal and Low Level Alarm.
