Integrated Water Management

Integrated Water ManagementOperators of large sites such as airports, factories, business centers and docks will understand the difficulties and cost of water management, be it drinking water or hot water from a CHP scheme. Leaks can occur anywhere and at any time within a buildings, under roadways, from hydrants or from within an industrial process. The big questions are how to differentiate between normal and excessive water consumption, then how to conserve water, how to then prove the efficiency, how to detect leaks and most importantly how to locate them?

For the above reasons Radio-Tech is pleased to offer a unique package of site wide Integrated Water Management on a single platform that can be run and maintained either by yourselves or via our new Global Net web based monitoring service. A large site as illustrated in the photograph could have over 100 water meters serving individual buildings and/or tennants, it could have between 5km and 50km of over-ground and underground pipes, over 50 fire hydrants, over 2000 sprinkler heads, 100 wash basins, 100 toilets, 30 process draw off points, over 20 water towers / storage tanks and may have numerous booster pumps. Add all these "Water Assets" together and you have an almighty management headache!

Using our fixed network wide area wireless Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) and sensor technology and/or localized receivers with LAN interface we can deliver data back to your site office, via the Internet or your secure Intranet.

The starting point is the collection of synchronized 15-minute or half hour readings fromwater meters at both primary feed points plus all the sub-meters for every building and process extraction point. Supplement this with data from acoustic leak detection devices such as the Palmer Environmental Permalog placed at strategic locations such as fire hydrants, then perhaps add some high level alarms, some pump trip alarms and temperature sensors for storage tanks and you have the site covered! Obviously you can go even further and include water pressure, electricity and gas consumption, CSO and open channel flow discharge monitoring and any other process status information that you wish.

In summary, the installation of an Integrated Water Management system need not be limited to one site, it can cover multiple sites. Data can be accessed locally and or distributed via our subscription service Global Net. In the UK systems can be run using our secure Ofcom licensed radio frequency channel and on the Continent either using license free radio or the ERMES band.
