Rail Temperature Monitoring
TemperatureThe Radio-Tech Rail Temperature Monitoring System provides a way of monitoring for critical rail temperature, icy conductor rails and frozen ballast 24/7. Up to 13 rail-mounted transmitters send data to a central server via trackside data-loggers.
- Network Rail Approved (Certificate PA05/01210)
- Transmitters fix to a rail using a resilient clip, looking like an insulator clip to deter vandals.
- 100% Battery Powered to avoid cables and solar panels.
- Battery life of 6-10 years for transmitters and up to a year for data-loggers.
- SMS alerts available.
- Can be deployed in difficult locations such as tunnel mouths, cuttings, “red zones” and areas prone to flooding

Bearing Condition Monitoring
Heat stopping you in your tracks?
Monitor bearing condition by reading temperature automatically and remotely with Radio-Tech’s BCM System: THE alternative to manual monitoring.
Radio-Tech’s unique Bearing Temperature Monitor (BTM) System uses wireless technology to read and log the temperature of train bearings. The data is sent to a data logger which is discreetly mounted on the train itself. The logger then transmits information at specified time intervals via GSM to a host PC or laptop.
The BTM System allows train operators to have clear visibility of bearing temperature without the cost and logistical difficulties involved with manual monitoring. This enables the operator to respond quickly and cost-effectively to problems.
- Reduces cost and risk of manual monitoring
- Prevents service disruption caused by manual monitoring
- Accurate and regular readings (every 15 minutes)
- Sensor designed to operate over a wide temperature span (-30°C to + 110°C)
- Temperature alarms configurable and transmitted via SMS and displayed on screen
- Reduced costs compared with manual monitoring
- Reduced risks from accidents such as derailment caused by track buckling in heat
- Readings transmitted increasingly frequently as temperature rises for added security. i.e. if temperature is <75, ination is transmitted to the server every 2 hours; if temperature is >85, transmissions are sent every 15 minutes
