Intelligent Street Lighting

Radio-tech’s intelligent street lighting allows our customers to operate and monitor street lighting remotely. Our bi-directional, long-range radio system enables unlimited street lights to be controlled and monitored from a distance of up to 30km.

Our system works by fitting a lighting node on to each street light. This retrieves information which is then sent to a sub master, of which only one are needed for every 512 lights. The sub master then sends the collected information back to a base station where it can be viewed and analysed using our unique software package.

  • On and off timing settings. (This enables street lighting operators to maximise their energy efficiency and significantly reduce energy costs)
• Unlimited street lights can be monitored from one base station within the 30km range, making our system extremely cost effective.
• Bi-directional communication allows operators to both receive vital information from each light but also to control it using fixed settings or ad-hoc adjustment.
• Each lighting node has its own unique ID so the operator can receive individual information about each light

Radio-tech’s sophisticated lighting nodes retrieve information and report it back to the base station. They detect both lamp failure and power consumption as well as being able to control the light’s on or off status. One is fitted to each street light and has its own ID, enabling information from each light to be individually identifiable.

The sub-master transfers information between the lighting nodes and the base station. Only one Sub-master is needed for up to 512 street lights, making it very cost-effective.

A 153 Repeater can be used to boost radio communication in difficult areas. However, due to our long-range system it is often not necessary to have this component.

Radio-tech’s Base-station repeater receives the radio communication from the sub-master. It is plugged into a PC where the information can be viewed using our software, Technet.

Our Software allows the user to view all information collected from each street light fitted with our Intelligent Street Lighting system. It has easy-to-use programmes to enable the user to analyse, collate and produce useful reports for increasing energy efficiency and reducing waste.
