Drive By AMR
Drive-by AMR systems allow the operator to collect metering data cheaply and easily with a hand-held unit or laptop equipped with receiver and dedicated software. These systems are ideal for housing estates and commercial streets.
Typically operating primarily on the unlicensed 869MHz band with a range of up to 200m, boosters and repeaters can extend coverage in the case of difficult-to-reach meters.
Migration from Drive-By to Fixed Network
A drive-by system can simply be developed into a fixed network by the installation of booster units along the route, for example mounted on lamp-posts. These boosters take the short-range transmissions from the 869MHz transmitters and retransmit them on long-range 153 or 169MHz, where they can be picked up by fixed receivers or data concentrators.
